Interplas UK – 2023

Interplas UK is the UK’s leading plastics exhibition and conference that has been connecting the UK plastics industry for 75 years. The event was first held in 1948 as a showcase of plastic products and technology at the British Industries Fair in London. Since then, it has grown to become one of the longest-running industrial trade shows in the UK, attracting thousands of attendees from across the industry. The event has been held at different venues across the UK, including London, Birmingham, and Manchester. In 2023, Interplas celebrated its 75th anniversary at the NEC in Birmingham. The event featured over 500 exhibitors and attracted over 12,000 attendees from across the industry.

Interplas 2023 showcased the latest innovations in plastics manufacturing processes, technologies, materials, and services. The event also provided a platform for key buyers from companies such as 3M, Bentley, Jaguar Land Rover, GSK, Samsung, Honda, Bespak, Delta Electronics, Unilever, BAE Systems, Boots and Rolls Royce to find the latest plastics tech and materials.

Simoldes Tools presence at the show allowed us to meet with some of our UK clients and meet new potential clients in the automotive industry and in consumer goods.

Doctorate “Honoris Causa” – António da Silva Rodrigues

On 21 December 2022, António da Silva Rodrigues, founder of the Simoldes Group, was awarded the highest academic distinction: the Doctorate “Honoris Causa“.

This award was bestowed by the University of Aveiro.

An award synonymous with a lesson in humility, simplicity, humanism, courage …

Simoldes Tools_Meximold 2022 (Mexico)

Simoldes Tools was present at what is the only fair held in Mexico dedicated 100% to the Mould Industry sector.

The presence of the Simoldes Group took place on 5 and 6 October 2022.

During these 2 days, Simoldes had the opportunity to meet some customers and friends who showed curiosity about the future of Simoldes Tools in Mexico.

In addition, Simoldes Tools had the visit of some speciality magazines, as well as contact with new and potential customers and/or partners.

The speciality magazines collected some interviews about the Group’s presence in the Mexican market. A market to which the Simoldes Group has been exporting for over 25 years!

Simoldes (Tools) was present at Meximold 2022

On 5 and 6 October 2022, the Simoldes Group was present at the Meximold International Fair (2022) in the city of Querétaro, Mexico.

There was the opportunity to learn about the potential of Simoldes Tools at this fair aimed at mould manufacturing, additive manufacturing and plastic injection.

Simoldes at “Hannover Messe” (2022)

The “Hannover Messe” is one of the most important industry trade fairs in Germany.

Every year it selects a partner country.

In 2022, the partner country was Portugal.

Therefore, the Simoldes Group was present for the first time at this fair with the aim of showing the work it does in terms of INNOVATION.

@Plastics Technology Expo 2022 in Chicago (USA)

Simoldes Group (Tools) is proud to participate in the 1st edition of the Plastics Technology Exhibition in the USA.

This fair/show combines several concepts such as: Extrusion, Additive Manufacturing, Materials and Recycling. An exhibition that includes the entire plastics processing supply chain.

The participation of Simoldes (Tools) took place in Rosemont (Chicago) from 29 to 31 March 2022.

This circumstance allowed Simoldes Tools to have contact with various industry players and hopes to meet them again soon!

Simoldes Tools @Plastimagen 2022 in Mexico City

Simoldes Tools was present with a stand at the 1st international face-to-face event of the Plastics and Moulds Industry, in Latin America, in this new “Covid era”.

This event, “PLASTIMAGEN MEXICO 2022“, took place at the CITYBANAMEX exhibition centre in Mexico City, from 8 to 11 March 2022.

The event featured more than 400 exhibitors, representing about a thousand brands from more than 20 countries around the world.

Overall, the Simoldes Group (namely Simoldes Tools), considers that participation in this meeting was very fruitful, given the possibility of demonstrating its dimension to more than 22 thousand visitors: Simoldes Tools stands out in the world panorama of mould manufacturing!

Simoldes’ Additive Manufacturing team at FormNext 2021

The Simoldes Group team (Simoldes Tools) responsible for the NanoSim 3D Project (Additive Manufacturing) was present at Formnext: where ideas take shape!

Objective: to show what is done in the Simoldes Group, both in terms of practical application in the product and in terms of R&D (Research and Development) project.

SIMOLDES GROUP Interplas UK 2021 – Interview with the Commercial Director (UK):

The Commercial Director, Jorge Leitão, commercial representative of the United Kingdom (UK) was present at the Interplas International Fair (2021) in the UK and where the Simoldes Group is always represented.

Interplas is the only trade show in the sector that gathers the whole production chain of plastic articles. From the raw material to the finished product, design, prototyping, mould construction, injection machines, extrusion, blowing, cutting and welding, printing, thermoforming, recycling, peripherals, packaging, among others.

This International trade show has the capacity to attract a large audience at the industry level, which leads to business results of great volume, thus ensuring the success of the event for more than 10 editions.

SIMI: Innovative Solutions in Multi-injection

Simoldes_SIMI (Innovative Solutions in Multi-injection)

Project Identification:

The SIMI project’s strategic goal is the technology development related to the manufacture of tools (molds) for multi-material injection processes.

It focuses on a new and innovative solution from the companies MDA and SIMOLDES PLASTICOS.

The purpose to research and develop methods focused on the development of molding tools for the production of multi-material product production.

The project aims to obtain simpler molds, with less production time, lower maintenance costs and less susceptibility to error or malfunction.

This new solution will be developed and tested using molds designed and manufactured according to the specific features of the products for the target markets introducing in this industry specific know-how to design and manufacture molds.

This knowledge will be developed and tested in an industrial environment based on two case studies oriented, one for the automotive sector, and the other one for houseware.

The use of different materials will eliminate any possible component assembly work.

Another major objective is to achieve greater integration with the adjacent parts and components that perform different functions, such as, in one of the selected case studies – door panel – the rubber seal inside the glass.

The industrial advantages of this new solution allow us to predict gains in quality and productivity in the technology supply inducing an increase in the competitiveness of the companies.
